Job Summary (Purpose):
The Associate Account Manager is responsible for administration and acquisition of the new business sales for their assigned district/territory by actively pursuing potential prospects and coordinating the sales and operational support needed to service the business. Works closely with Account Managers on new and existing account needs and is the sales point of contact for District personnel to effectively acquire new business. Handles incoming/outbound sales calls, closing sales or gathering information. Communicates to sales team daily regarding work activities and market conditions (changes to competitive offers, service issues, etc.).
Key Characteristics:
The ability to develop strong new account prospect relationships. Able to locate the appropriate internal or external contact and build the relationship.
Superior organizational ability working with multiple accounts, each may have multiple locations serviced by multiple districts.
Excellent communication skills are needed to keep customers, districts and various departments properly aligned.
Adapted ability to work in a high paced, exciting, customer facing environment
Actively pursue new business in an outside sales capacity.
Ability to physically relocate to a new geographic territory is desirable.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Handle both inbound and outbound sales calls to the district. Present information regarding products, services, fees, and pricing in an effective and positive manner.
Spend time in the field in an outside sales capacity being prepared to execute the sales process from prospecting to the close, Expectation of 60% or more time weekly spent in the field pursuing new customer acquisition.
Must be willing to actively cold call prospects, and actively call on current customers
Work in conjunction with assigned Account Manager(s) as necessary
Continually update CRM based on activity and market knowledge
Obtain purchase orders, signed contracts, credit, and other information required from customers
Work closely with district operations to schedule service and deliveries for all new customers
Continually improve sales skill development and reach expected levels of results in preparation for potential promotion to the Account Manager position.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Prefer a good understanding of propane products and services.
Excellent interpersonal skills and social competency
Professional demeanor with excellent organizational skills and reliability
Ambitious with a strong work ethic and a willingness to learn
Willing to work in commission based compensation plan
Demonstrate ability to negotiate and close sales
Education and Experience Required:
High School diploma required/College degree preferred
Prefer 1+ years of sales experience or demonstrated sales acumen
Active commercial / industrial sales experience preferred
